Happy Colon, Happy Soul – An Exciting New Read
Hope Stories
Are you looking for a great read? Karen Giesbrecht’s book Happy Colon, Happy Soul, is an inspiring book on exploration of how we share food with others, particularly our vulnerable neighbors. As a registered dietician, with a Masters in Healthcare Leadership, and a passion for mental health, strong communities, and real food, Karen Giesbrecht uses the book as a medium to share stories. Giesbrecht recommends this book for “those who want to do something about our neighbours in poverty, who are moved by compassion and live with a heart open enough to respond, and those hoping, trying, aspiring to keep church relevant.” She knew before finishing her education as a dietician that she did not want to work in hospitals, but instead, alongside people to help prevent them from needing hospitals. She currently works in shelters and addictions treatment centers. The Book Launch for Giesbrecht’s book will take place on August 16th, at 3213 Fraser St. from 7:00 PM until 9: 00 PM. Giesbrecht will read a couple of excerpts from the book, as well as answer questions that spark conversation.
