Volunteer Spotlight: Wasana & Dinesha
Hope Stories
Meet our amazing volunteers, Wasana and Dinesha! Since September 2024, Wasana and Dinesha have been volunteering in our Food Rescue Program. Both MBA students with tight schedules, Wasana and Dinesha were eager to give back to the community, but finding the time to volunteer was challenging. When we offered the morning shift for our Food Rescue Program, they eagerly took the opportunity. Even though they had to head back to school afterward, they have been happy to join us and shown up every Thursday morning – rain or shine – to support the community. Their friendship and shared dedication have made them a strong team. During Vancouver’s cold winter, when the temperatures drop, the days are shorter, and it’s dark outside in the morning, they have constantly shown up on time without fail. Also, they have worked closely with other volunteers, forming a strong bond within our program. Their consistency, dedication, and passion for giving back inspire everyone around them and they’ve become a true representation of true community spirit. Their commitment not only keeps the program running smoothly but also brings a sense of warmth and teamwork to our community. Wasana and Dinesha, we are grateful for their hard work and the positive impact they have made! Interested in volunteering with us? If you want to make a difference and help community, we’d love to hear from you! Send your application to BoundlessVancouver.Volunteer@SalvationArmy.ca
